Sushant Singh Rajput’s Death Case: Complete Timeline of Investigation from June 14

Sushant Singh Rajput died on June 14th and the Hindi film industry will never be the same anymore. The tragic death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput left the entire nation into a state of shock, who starred in some big hits. The biopic of Ms. Dhoni is one of the popular films of the late Sushant Singh Rajput.
Amidst the global epidemic and lockdown, the case of Sushant Singh Rajput’s death was the top trending topic of social media as well as mainstream media. Initially, it was seen as a case of fragile mental health but later many theories started coming out in media. The Mumbai Police began investigating the case, but the fans demanded the CBI inquiry.
Many things happen since 14th June. Here is the complete timeline.
June 14: Sushant Singh Rajput, a 34-year-old Bollywood actor committed suicide at his residence in Mumbai. He was found dead in his apartment in Bandra (Mumbai) with the cause ruled as Suicide on Sunday morning, and a domestic help alerted the police.
Mumbai Police spokesman and Deputy Commissioner of Police Pranay Ashok said that prima facie it appears to be a case of suicide. However, no suicide note was found in the apartment.
June 15: Actress Kangana Ranaut accused a section of people in Bollywood who never want to acknowledge Sushant Singh’s success. She debunked the theory of actor committed suicide and revealed the truth of nepotism in Bollywood.
June 15: Rajput’s funeral took place at Pawan Hans crematorium, Vile Parle, on Monday afternoon, amid heavy rainfall. Sushant’s father and his two sisters arrived from the actor’s hometown Patna. Some fellow actors his girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty attended the funeral. Fans also gathered around to see a glimpse of their superstar.
June 16: BJP MP Nishikant Dubey demanded a judicial investigation into the case, alleging a deep conspiracy behind the actor’s death.
June 17: A criminal complaint was initiated in a local court by a lawyer against superstar Salman khan, director Karna Johar and Ekta Kapoor in link with Sushant murderer in a local court in Muzaffarpur, Bihar. In the complaint, the lawyer alleges that the actor was removed from around seven movies and some of his movies were not even released. He stated that such a situation was created which forced the actor to take a drastic step.
June 18: Sushant’s ashes were immersed in the holy river Ganga in his hometown Patna in Bihar, where his late mother’s ashes had also been immersed.
On the same day, Shushan’s girlfriend & actress Rhea Chakraborty arrived at Bandra police station to record her statement in regards to the death of the actor.
June 19: The demand for justice for the late actor spread on the streets of Bihar and social media. Leaders of the Jan Adhikar Student Council burnt effigies of actor Salman Khan and producer-director Karan Johar at Kargil Chowk in Patna.
June 19: Leading the investigation further, the Mumbai police requested details of contract from Yash Raj films for at least two movies which Sushant had signed with them. Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh also said that the police would probe all angles including allegations of professional rivalries.
22 June: National President of Lok Janshakti Party Chirag Paswan demands a fair investigation into the death case. He wrote to Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray that the late actor is the pride of Bihar and the entire state is demanding justice for him.
June 24: The final post-mortem report signed by a team of five doctors was handed over to the Mumbai police. According to the post-mortem report “No struggle marks or external injuries” were found in Sushant’s body. The report also mentioned the cause of death as asphyxia due to hanging.
June 25: BJP MP Roopa Ganguly demands a CBI inquiry into the case. He was suspected of dishonesty in the ongoing investigation.
June 28: Casting director Shanoo Sharma questioned by the Mumbai police in connection with the Sushant death case.
June 30: Sushant Singh Rajput’s co-star in his last film Dil Bechara, Sanjana Sanghi was interrogated by the Mumbai police at Bandra police station for around seven hours. His family members also met with the police regarding the investigation . The late actor’s sister Meetu and her husband, and the late actor’s friend, actor Mahesh Shetty, also met the police.
July 4: Sushant’s father KK Singh demanded CBI investigation.
July 6: Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali was questioned by the Mumbai police. During interrogation, Bhansali revealed that Sushant was offered many films but the actor could not be a part of any of the films.
July 11: Reshma Shetty, Former manager of Salman Khan and one of Bollywood’s top celebrity managers, was questioned for around five hours at Bandra police station.
July 14: For the first time since Sushant’s demise, Rhea shares a moving note on Instagram and express her state of mind and emotions.
She wrote, “Still struggling to face my emotions…an irreparable numbness in my heart. You are the one who made me believe in love, the power of it. You taught me how a simple mathematical equation can decipher the meaning of life and I promise you that I learnt from you every day. I will never come to terms with you not being here anymore,”.
July 16: Rhea Chakraborty requested Home Minister Amit Shah for a CBI probe into Sushant’s death.
July 18: Mumbai police recorded the statement of Filmmaker Aditya Chopra of Yash raj films, he was interrogated for about 4 hours.
July 22: Kangana Ranaut, Ankita Lokhande, and Shekhar Suman joined fans to take part in the Candle4SSR online protest.
July 24: Sushant’s most awaited film Dil Bechara was finally released on Disney + Hotstar.
July 26: Former union cabinet Minister Subramanian Swamy wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging CBI enquiry in Actor Sushant Singh’s death case. The PM Modi acknowledged the letter by former Cabinet Minister Subramanian Swamy.
July 27: Bandra police recorded the statement of Mahesh Bhatt as a part of their investigation.
July 28: Apoorva Mehta, CEO of Dharma Productions, the statement was recorded by Mumbai police.
July 29: Krishna Kishore Singh, father of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput, has filed a complaint in Rajiv Nagar police station Patna against Rhea Chakraborty and six other people for abetting to Suicide.
July 29: The Bihar Police team, which arrived in Mumbai to probe the death case, recorded the statement of Meetu Singh, sister of the late actor.
July 29: Satish Mane Shinde ‘one of the most expensive lawyers in India, going to handle the case of Rhea Chakraborty. Rhea’s anticipatory bail was signed by Mane Shinde and the lawyers will soon move to the sessions court.
July 29: Forensic analysis revealed that the cloth believed to have been used by the actor to hang, could take his weight. Analysis of ligature marks found on his neck also points to the actor’s death is a case of suicide, rather than homicide.
July 30: Sushant Singh Rajput’s family filed a caveat in the supreme court on the petition of Riya Chakraborty, Riya told the supreme court that she has been falsely implicated in the FIR lodged against her in Bihar by Sushant’s father.
July 30: The supreme court refused to consider a PIL seeking a CBI probe into the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput by Suicide.
July 30: The Enforcement Directorate took action and sought details of the case from the Bihar Police.
July 31: Bihar police recorded the statement of actress Ankita Lokhande.
July 31: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) registered a case of money laundering of Rs.15 crore transaction related to the alleged suicide of Actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
July 31: In a video, actress Rhea Chakraborty addressed the allegation against her on Sushant’s death.
August 1: Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackery rejected a CBI probe demanding by opposition and some Bollywood celebrities.
August 1: Sushant Singh Rajput’s sister, wrote an open letter to Prime Minister Narender Modi, urging him to intervene in the case.
August 3: Bihar Police IPS officer Vinay Tiwari arrived at Mumbai to expedite the investigation but he quarantined by the BMC just hours after his arrival.
August 3: The ED arrived at the house of Sushant’s long time chartered accountant Sandeep Sridhar.
August 4: Former Maharashtra CM Narayan Rane gave a sensational statement that Sushant and his former manager Disha Salian were murdered.
August 4: Maharashtra Tourism Minister Aditya Thackeray was being targeted by the BJP in connection with Sushant’s death. He breaks his silence 50 days after Sushant’s death. Thackeray said that he is the target of mucky politics.
August 4: The Bihar government recommended a CBI Inquiry into the death case of Sushant Singh Rajput.
August 5: In a major development, General Tushar Mehta informed the supreme court that the Union of India accepted the Bihar Governments recommendation for a CBI probe into the Sushant’s death case.
August 5: Sushant’s home manager Samuel Miranda called by ED for questioning.
August 6: CBI registered an FIR against Rhea Chakraborty, father Inderjit Chakraborty, mother Sandhya Chakraborty, brother Showik Chakraborty, Sushant’s house manager Samuel Miranda, Shruti Modi, and some unknown others. They were charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code including provoking for suicide, cheating offenses, theft, wrong confinement, criminal breach of trust, criminal conspiracy.
August 7: The Enforcement Directorate questioned actor Rhea, Showik, her chartered accountant Ritesh Shah and her former manager Shruti Modi over the 8 hours long for money-laundering enquiry.
August 9: ED again questioned Showik Chakraborty in connection with their financial transactions.
August 10: Rhea Chakraborty, Showik, and Indrajit Chakraborty appear before the ED for interrogating in the money-laundering probe.
August 10: Rhea Chakraborty filed a fresh petition in the supreme court stating that the media running a wrong trail and convicting me for Sushant’s death.
August 11: – Former manager Shruti Modi was questioned by the ED for the third time. Sushant’s flatmate Siddharth Pithani also appeared again before ED.
August 15: Sushant’s personal staff, including his domestic help, was questioned by ED in connection with a money laundering case.
August 18: KK Singh’s statement was recorded by the ED regarding the investigation into the money laundering aspects of Bollywood actors’ suicide.
August 19: The supreme court ordered the CBI to investigate the Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case.
August 19: ED calls filmmaker Rumi Jaffrey for Questioning.
August 21: Sushant’s sister Priyanka Singh deposed before ED regarding the investigation of the money laundering aspects.
August 22: The special investigation team of the CBI team along with the forensic team, Sushant’s flatmate Siddharth Pithani, cook Neeraj, and others reached late Sushant Singh’s Bandra flat.
August 23: For further investigation, CBI reconstructed the crime scene with the actor’s personal staff at his flat in Bandra.
August 24: Sushant’s flatmate Siddharth Pithani and his staff Neeraj Singh were again interrogated at the Waterstone resort, where Sushant stayed for two months.
August 24: CBI team went to Cooper Hospital, where Sushant’s post-mortem was done. The Doctor’s concern on various points was questioned by CBI. Siddharth Pithani and his cook Neeraj Singh had to go through a quiz on the events before the actor died.
August 25: To pursue the investigation, a special investigation team of the CBI questioned the actor’s chartered accountant Sandeep Sridhar, flatmate Siddharth Pithani and Neeraj Singh.
August 26: The ED called talent manager Jaya Saha in connection with the money-laundering probe as aspects of actor Sushant Singh’s death.
August 26: Kananga Ranaut has claimed that many A-listers could go behind the bars if the Narcotics control Bureau starts an investigation.
August 26: After the ED and the CBI, the Narcotics Control Bureau registered a case against Rhea Chakraborty and two others to probe the drug angle in the Sushant death case.
August 27: KK Singh’s father of Sushant Singh claimed in a video that Rhea was poisoning her son and she is behind his death.
August 27: Rhea Chakraborty urged Mumbai police to provide security to her and her family members, saying that her life was in danger. Whereas CBI Summon rheas brother Shovik for a grilling session.
August 28: Making shocking revelations in her media interviews, Rhea appeared before the CBI.
August 28: Goa-based hotelier Gaurav Arya was summoned By ED to investigate a money laundering case involving Rhea Chakraborty
August 29: The special investigation team of CBI questioned Rhea for more than seven hours.
August 30: Rhea Chakraborty was questioned for around eight hours by the special investigation team of CBI, regarding the mention of drugs in their chats, issues including medical treatment given to Sushant Singh Rajput.
August 31: CBI team continued to investigate Rhea along with his brother Showik Chakraborty and Sushant’s former manager Shruti Modi, while another team of CBI once again visits the Bandra flat of Sushant Singh Rajput.
Sep 1: The ED continued questioning Gaurav Arya Goa-based hotelier in connection with a money-laundering probe related to the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
