Today, Delhi CM, Arvind Kejriwal attacked with chilli powder outside his office. At the secretariat, a man threw chilli powder on Delhi Chief Minister. The attacker is identified as Anil Kumar and has been taken into custody.
As per Alka Lamba, AAP lawmaker, the attacker attacked Arvind Kejriwal outside the Delhi CM ‘s chamber on the third floor, when he was leaving for lunch after finishing up with meetings. Ms. Lamba also told media that ‘ the accused took out a letter with chilli powder from his pocket and threw it on Arvind Kejriwal. However, he was wearing glasses at that time, so powder did not go in his eyes.
She also accused Delhi Police of completely failing to ensure the Delhi Chief Minister’s security. Delhi Police is controlled by BJP led central government, and for this Ms. Lamba accused them by saying ‘ Delhi police repetitively failed to stop anti-social elements from entering the secretariat. Also, they were doing this in the directions given by BJP that rules the centre.’
Arvind Kejriwal Aam Aadmi Party alleged and called this a dangerous attack. They said that the BJP had sent out the word that whoever targeted the Delhi Chief Minister or else his party would be protected.
Raghav Chadha, the AAP spokesperson, was behind him at that time when the attack took place. On the other hand, BJP has condemned the attack on Arvind Kejriwal. Manoj Tiwari, Delhi BJP chief said ‘I strongly condemned it as this should not be tolerated or justified. This attack should be investigated.
As per Saurabh Bharatwaj AAP spokesperson, today’s attack on Arvind Kejriwal happened in a high-security zone is actually a serious matter and also termed it as a politically motivated. He also added that ‘ at the time of Dussehra also an unidentified man had barged inside the Delhi CM’s residence and had attempted to attack him.‘ Officials close to Arvind Kejriwal blamed the Delhi Police of being lax in offering security and also alleged that this incident was the third party efforts to harm him in less than a month.
Past attacks on Arvind Kejriwal
Earlier this month water bottles were also thrown on Delhi Chief Minister by Tiwari at the inauguration ceremony of Signature Bridge. There were many other attacks on Delhi CM earlier like in 2014 April Arvind Kejriwal was slapped by a man during the roadshow. During the road show, a man climbed on the open in which Arvind Kejriwal was travelling and slapped and punched him at the spot. Earlier to this a man had punched him and also slapped him during the roadshow in Haryana. In Varanasi also ahead of 2014 Lok Sabha elections, an ink attack was also carried out at Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal. His car was also attacked by many eggs in the holy city where he had contested elections against PM Modi.
In 2016 also Ved Sharma, a man from Aam Aadmi Sena which was a breakaway segment from AAP had thrown a shoe on Arvind Kejriwal during a press conference in the Secretariat.
