The most horrific news came from Palghar district in Maharashtra, where two sadhus and a driver were lynched by the mob. In the circulated videos it can be seen that in the presence of police the dreadful mob were brutally hitting sadhus by rod,stick and stone.

Three people including two sadhu were going from Mumbai to Surat in a maruti eeco to attend the funeral of their Guru Ji. As they reach near about Gadchinchale village, 100 of villagers surrounded them after rumour that they were kidnapping children to harvest kidney and organs.

A mob of villagers started pelting over the car and overturned it. A forest official called up police and reached on the spot. Police tried to shift all three in their car but angry residents of Gadchinchale village armed with sticks, rods and stones went out of control. They started pelting at police vehicles. Police got helpless in front of the irate crowd. Mob started attacking all three including two sadhu leaving them dead.

Somehow the police managed to bring them to the hospital where the doctor declared them dead. The Deceased identified as Chikne Maharaj Kalpavruksha Giri (70), Sushil Giri Maharaj (35), and car driver Nilesh Telgade (30).

Kailash Shinde, the District Collector, said that we are investigating the incident and 110 people have been taken into custody. He appealed to villagers not to believe in any rumours no one is kidnapping your children and stealing kidneys. 

Postmortem report yet to come.

BJP is seeking a probe and strict action against the mob. Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis urged the state government to set up a high level enquiry and ensure that people who are responsible for this are brought to justice at the earliest.

Chief minister of Maharashtra Tweeted, ” The Palghar incident has been acted upon. The police has arrested all those accused who attacked the 2 sadhus, 1 driver and the police personnel, on the day of the crime itself “

BJP Spokesperson Sambit Patra raised question on police and Maharashtra Govt that what was the compulsion of police that a heinous crimes were committed in front of their eyes.
