The head priest locked Sabarimala temple doors on 19th October. It is because today, i.e. two women neared its gates. Kandararu Rajeevaru, Sabarimala temple head priest said ‘we have decided to lock the gate of Sabarimala temple and hand over the keys and leave. I shave to stand with devotees as I do not have any other option.

Two women out of which one is journalist Kavitha Jakkal and other is activist Rehana Fatima. They were accompanied by about 300 policemen donning body armor as well as helmets. They both were stopped ten minutes from the Sabarimala shrine by the protestors s they formed a human wall to block the entrance. Those two women were forced to return back from Sabarimala today, i.e., Friday.

As per the wordings of Kerala IG S Sreejith, while they bought these two women as per guidelines by Supreme Court. He said ‘we had brought then both till temple premises but tantric along with head priest refused to open the doors of Sabarimala temple. The time we were waiting tantric informed that if we try out to take women in the Sabarimala temple premises, then they would close the temple.’

On this Kerala, IG S Sreejith added ‘this is a ritualistic disaster as we took them to temple and also gave the protection. However, Darshan of the shrine is something which would be done with the permission of the priest.’

State Devaswom (religious trusts) Minister, Kadakampally Surendran, supposed that while people of all ages should be permissible to enter the Sabarimala temple, they would not allow it to be a place for activists to prove several points. He said that ‘people of all ages are allowed to enter Sabarimala temple. But we would not allow it to be a place where anyone can show their power. There are several people like activists trying to enter the shrine. It is not possible for govt to figure out who is who. We know very well that there are two activists out of which one is a journalist.’

On the other hand at the same time Mary Sweety, a third woman was also stopped in the midway towards Sabarimala temple by protestors and forced her to return back. She said on this that’ it is your drawback that women are returning.’
