Apple: New Bio Authentication Sensor Enhancing Features in Apple’s Device

Ever watched the movie “Jobs”? There’s a dialogue “When you touch the heart, that’s limitless.” Apple tends to run the chariot of technology with glooming innovations. In this article, NayaTaaza will discuss Apple‘s new bio authentication sensor. Recently, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office granted a patent to this new sensor developed by Apple Inc.

Bio Authentication Sensors & Benefits

Bio authentication sensors are the sensors that sense or read the data from the human’s biological characters. The physiological traits from which the data derives are:

  • Face recognition
  • Voice
  • Fingerprint
  • Iris and Retina

Once they read the data, they try to validate them through algorithms and patterns. These algorithms compare two types of data and then give a green signal to proceed further. Consider a fingerprint entry system in an office. The office’s gate opens only when the employee gives their fingerprint and once validated opens the gate. Hence, these sensors restrict any entry with malicious intent. Bio authentication sensors enhance the security of the system. Some of the benefits of bio authentication sensors are:

  1. Robust
  2. Reduction in the security breach
  3. Distinct as the biological traits of the two individuals differ.
  4. Develops resilient infrastructure
  5. Enhance privacy
  6. Controlled data accessibility

Apple’s New Bio Authentication Sensor

Apple’s bio authentication sensor enhances voice capability. Even the silent gestures command added into the sensor would enrich the wearable electronics. The sensor works on the principle of self-mixing interferometry that uses a laser beam. These sensors read even the delicate skin deformations and vibrations, apart from silent gestures. Once read, it converts it into an electrical signal. This electrical signal gets the quantification that is sent to the sensor’s processor. After the validation, the device processes the voice command and initiates the operation. So, the device becomes more secure due to the distinct voice of the individuals. Also, these voice commands can integrate with Apple’s voice assistant.

Apple’s plans

Apple Inc. has laid down the plans to use these bio authentication sensors in their next-gen AirPods, over-ear headphones, and in AR/VR headsets. But, it is quite difficult how Apple is going to integrate all the mentioned devices work on different principles like Subepidermal Imaging for executing its operation through bio authentication sensors. Yet, it is difficult to state when Apple Inc. will bring these products to the market due to these sensors being in the patent stage. So, the Apple device users need to wait for a year or two to see these new sensors creating magic and rendering security.
